I live on Kangaroo Island with my husband John on our 3rd generation farm which is not far from the main town Kingscote.
In the early morning I generally practice Yoga for about 20 minutes in front of our large window looking out to the garden before we have breakfast together.
From our elevated house I can see a sliver of the sea at Nepean Bay only a few kilometres from where we live but if we walk up our hills we can see the whole of Nepean Bay.
My Studio is a double lined garage with windows and a door and inside it has a large etching press, map drawers, benches, tables and a cork board so I can pin up preliminary drawings and see them vertically.
If I look out of my studio windows and door I can see our large orchard with many varieties of fruit trees and a Wicking garden which supplies us with lettuces, tomatoes, spinach, basil, chives and Asian Greens.
From the south east and west we planted a row of Sheoaks to deflect the strong winds and also planted gum trees at the front of our house for protection and shade.
Because we have the main bitumen road a short way from our gate it’s easy to travel to Kingscote or Penneshaw as well if we want to catch the Shuttle Bus in early morning to travel to Penneshaw and catch the Ferry across Backstairs Passage and the Bus to Adelaide.
Lastly Kangaroo Island has a huge variety of wildlife such as birds, lizards, kangaroos and wallaby’s which we see every day and are grateful for that.
